Google Ads Integration
In adstage, you can review web conversion performance data generated from Google Ads. In addition, with Google Ads cost integration, you can view the cost data of your active campaigns in the adstage dashboard.
The Google Ads integration screen can be found in the adstage dashboard under Integration > Ad Channel Integration > Google Ads, and it consists of three tabs: Web Campaign Integration, App Campaign Integration, and Cost Integration.
Integrating Web Campaigns
Using the Final URL Suffix feature of Google Ads, you can review the conversion performance data of users generated from Google Ads. By leveraging the Final URL Suffix, you can track the ad performance of all campaigns with a single setting.
Prerequisites
The Final URL Suffix method adds tracking parameters directly to the landing page URL. Therefore, the adstage Web SDK must be installed on the final landing web page for tracking data to be collected properly. You can find the installation instructions at Installing the adstage Web SDK.
Setting the Final URL Suffix in Google Ads
In the adstage dashboard under Integration > Ad Channel Integration > Google Ads, select the Web Campaign Integration tab and then open the Final URL Suffix tab. Copy the Final URL Suffix displayed here.
Modifying the copied content may cause your Google Ads ad to be rejected during review or your data to not be collected properly, so please use it as is.
Go to Google Ads and navigate to Admin > Account settings > Tracking.
In the Tracking section, paste the content you copied from the adstage dashboard into the Final URL Suffix field and click Save. Once saved, tracking information will be automatically added to the landing page URL of subsequent ad clicks.
Final URL Suffix
When the Final URL Suffix is set at the Google Ads account level, it is automatically applied to all campaigns in that account. There is no need to configure it for each campaign individually.
Integrating App Campaigns
In the App Campaign Integration tab, you register adstage as a third-party app analytics provider for Google Ads, so that adstage forwards the app conversion events it collects to Google Ads. This allows you to track app installs and in-app conversions generated from Google Ads.
Registering the Google Ads Link ID
To forward app conversion events, you must first register a Link ID for each platform.
-
In Google Ads, navigate to Tools > Data Manager > Third-party app analytics, select Other providers, and enter the Provider ID provided by adstage.
-
Create a Link ID for each of Android and iOS. The two platforms use different Link IDs, so you must create one for each.
-
Register the created Link IDs in the Android Link ID and iOS Link ID input fields in the adstage App Campaign Integration tab.
Only events that occur after the Link ID is registered are sent to Google Ads. It may take up to 6 hours for them to be reflected in the Google Ads dashboard.
Event Postback
The events collected by adstage are linked to Google Ads conversion actions and forwarded.
- Default postback: Once you set up the integration, default events such as
install / first_openandopen / deeplink_openare automatically mapped and sent. - In-app event postback: You can send additional events for ad optimization. For each collected event, you can turn sending on or off, or select the Google Ads event type (standard/custom) to map it to.
The first_open event is a required event that is essential for Google Ads app conversion tracking. Events that are not in the Google Ads standard list (e.g., sign_up) are sent as custom, so you must create a corresponding custom conversion action in Google Ads.
Integrating Cost
adstage supports Google Ads cost integration. Through cost integration, you can view data related to the ad spend incurred in Google Ads within adstage.
Integrating with a Google Account
To integrate adstage with Google Ads, Google account authentication is required. We use the OAuth 2.0 method for secure authentication.
Starting Google Account Integration in adstage
-
In the adstage dashboard under Integration > Ad Channel Integration, select Google Ads (google.ads).
-
In the Cost Integration tab, enable 'Google Ads Cost Integration'. Then click Add Integration Account.
-
When the Google sign-in window opens, enter the email and password of your Google Ads administrator account or regular account.
-
Approve the permissions so that adstage can access your Google Ads data.
Selecting a Google Ads Account
Once Google account authentication is complete, a list of Google Ads accounts accessible with that Google account is displayed.
-
Select the Google Ads account you want to integrate. The account name and Customer ID are displayed, so verify that it is the correct account.
-
When you click Integrate, the selected Google Ads account is integrated with adstage. When you integrate a Google Ads account, only cost data is collected.
Accounts Available for Integration
Both Google Ads administrator accounts (MCC) and regular advertiser accounts can be integrated. When you log in with an administrator account, all sub-accounts accessible with that account are displayed in the list.
Please Note
If any one of the items below applies, cost integration will not proceed.
- Using a Google Ads account that is already registered in the adstage organization being integrated
- Using a Google Ads account for which you do not have permission
- Declining permission approval during Google account authentication
- A network error or exceeding the Google Ads API limit
Managing Integrated Accounts
You can review integrated Google Ads accounts in the Cost Integration tab of the adstage dashboard.
Reviewing the Account List
In the list of integrated accounts, you can review the following information:
- Ad Account: The Google Ads account name and Customer ID
- Status: The integration status (Preparing, Success, Failed)
- Last Data Update: The most recent data collection time
- Google Ads Account: The Google account email used for the integration
Deleting an Account
To remove an integration, click the Delete button for the account in the account list. When you click Confirm in the deletion confirmation message, the integration is removed.
Please Note
When you delete an account, data collection for that account stops. Previously collected historical data is retained in adstage, but no new data is collected.
Checking the Integration Status
Once you enter the integration information, you can check the current status of the cost integration through a status message.
Status Message Descriptions
- Preparing: Account integration is complete, but the first data collection is in progress. It may take up to 4 hours.
- Success: Data collection is proceeding normally.
- Failed: An error occurred during data collection. Please check the account permissions, API quota, and so on.
Data Update Cycle
Google Ads cost data is updated as follows:
- Update range: The last 7 days (D-6 to D-0, from 6 days ago to today)
- Update cycle: Every 4 hours (00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00, 20:00 KST)
- Collected data: Channel-level Cost, Clicks, and Impressions
Data Collection Timing
Google Ads cost data includes today's (D-0) data.
For example, if you update cost data in adstage at 4:00 AM on March 17, the data generated from March 11 to March 17 is updated.
Collected Data
When you set up cost integration, you can review the channel-level performance data of Google Ads in adstage.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Cost | The ad spend incurred at the channel level |
| Clicks | The number of clicks generated at the channel level |
| Impressions | The number of impressions generated at the channel level |
Precautions
Please be mindful of the following.
Web Campaign Integration
- When the Final URL Suffix is set at the account level, it is automatically applied to all campaigns.
- Because the Final URL Suffix adds tracking information to the landing page, the adstage Web SDK must be installed on the landing web page for data to be collected.
- Modifying the copied Final URL Suffix may cause ad review rejection or interruption of data collection.
Cost Integration
- Discrepancies in figures may occur between Google Ads and adstage. This is due to differences in aggregation timing, time zones, and filtering criteria.
- If you change your Google account password or revoke permissions, data collection stops.
- If the Google Ads API quota is exceeded, data collection may be temporarily delayed.
Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs during the integration process, please check the following:
Web Campaign Integration Issues
- Check the Final URL Suffix setting: Verify that the Final URL Suffix is entered correctly in the Google Ads account settings (Admin > Account settings > Tracking).
- Check the Web SDK installation: Verify that the adstage Web SDK is correctly installed on the landing page.
- Check the landing page: Verify that the final landing page URL is correct.
Cost Integration Issues
- Check Google account permissions: Verify that you have access permission to the Google Ads account.
- Check the account selection: Verify that you selected the correct Google Ads account (check the Customer ID).
- Check the integration status: If the integration status is 'Failed', delete the account and re-integrate.
- Check the API quota: Verify that you have not exceeded the Google Ads API quota.
When Data Is Not Collected
- Check that the integration is enabled: Verify that the 'Google Ads Cost Integration' switch is enabled.
- Check the account status: Verify that the status of the integrated account is 'Success'.
- Wait time: After the first integration, wait up to 4 hours (collection of the last 7 days of data).
- Re-verify permissions: Verify that the adstage app permissions for your Google account are valid.
Google Authentication Errors
- Check popup blocking: Verify that popups are not blocked in your browser.
- Check cookie settings: Verify that third-party cookies are allowed.
- Try a different browser: Try a different browser such as Chrome or Safari.
