Reddit Ads Integration
In adstage, you can collect cost data from Reddit Ads and send conversions such as purchases and sign-ups back to Reddit. Reddit Ads integration is done in the Cost Integration and Conversion API tabs under Integrations > Ad Channel Integration > Reddit Ads.
Beta
The Reddit Ads integration is still being verified with live advertiser accounts. If adstage numbers differ from Reddit Ads Manager, please let the adstage support team know.
1. Integration Overview
| Feature | Where to set up | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Cost collection | Cost Integration tab | Log in with Reddit and pick your ad accounts; spend, impressions, and clicks per campaign are collected automatically every 4 hours |
| Conversion sending | Conversion API tab | Conversions measured by adstage, such as purchases and sign-ups, are sent to the Reddit Conversions API |
| Click attribution | Deep Links > Create | Clicks and conversions arriving through a tracking link are reported under the reddit.ads channel; the Reddit click ID (rdt_cid) ties conversions to the ad click |
The two tabs are independent. You can use the Conversion API without cost integration, or collect cost without the Conversion API. No API key has to be issued or entered.
2. Cost Integration
Logging in with Reddit
-
In the
Cost Integrationtab, turn on theReddit Ads Cost Integrationswitch. While it is off, theLog in with Redditbutton cannot be clicked. -
Click
Log in with Reddit. A Reddit login and consent window opens in a new window. -
Sign in with a Reddit account that has access to the ad account, check that the username shown on the consent screen is correct, and select
Allow. adstage requests read access to advertising data (adsread) only.
Please note
- Sign in with a Reddit account that has access to the ad account in your Reddit business. Ad accounts shared from another business are not listed.
- If the login has no accessible ad accounts, the message "No Reddit ad accounts were found for this login" is shown.
- If another Reddit account is already signed in on the browser, the consent screen opens for that account. If the username is wrong, log out of Reddit and try again.
Selecting ad accounts
Once approved, the Select Reddit Ad Accounts window lists the ad accounts your Reddit login can access. Use the ad account name, organization (Reddit business), currency, and ad account ID to confirm you have the right account.
-
Select one or more ad accounts to collect cost data for. You can search by account name or ID, or use
Select All. -
Click
Confirm N Account(s). The selected accounts are connected and the first collection starts right away.
Good to know
Selecting an ad account that is already connected does not skip it; its login permission is replaced with the new one ("N already connected Reddit ad account(s) were re-authorized"). If the person who logged in lost access to the ad account or revoked it and the status turned Failed, click
Log in with Redditagain and select the same account.
Managing connected accounts
Connected accounts appear in the account list of the Cost Integration tab.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
Account Name | Reddit ad account name and ad account ID |
Status | Cost integration status (Preparing, Success, Failed) |
Last Data Update | When cost data was last saved |
Management | Delete the account |
- Preparing: the first collection is running right after connection. It usually finishes within a few minutes.
- Success: the Reddit Ads API connection is healthy. It stays Success even when no ads are running and there is no data.
- Failed: data could not be fetched because the authorization expired or access was revoked. Hover over the badge to see the cause, then click
Log in with Redditto reconnect.
If no cost data has been saved for more than 3 days, a ⚠️ warning appears next to the status with the message "No cost data has been collected for N days". The warning clears automatically once data arrives again.
To disconnect, click the delete icon in the Management column and select Delete in the Delete Account dialog. Collection stops for that account; data already collected stays in adstage.
3. Setting Up Conversion Sending
In the Conversion API tab, enter the Pixel ID and Conversion Access Token from Reddit Events Manager, and adstage servers will send conversions to Reddit. No code has to be added to your website or app.
Getting the Pixel ID and Conversion Access Token from Reddit
-
In Reddit Ads Manager, open Events Manager.
-
Under Configure data source, choose Conversions API > Set up manually and use Copy to Clipboard to copy the Pixel ID. If you have not set up the Conversions API or the Pixel yet, choose Conversions API Only instead.
-
In the same Events Manager, go to Conversions API, select Generate Access Token, give the token a name, then select Generate and Copy to Clipboard & Close.
Please note
- Only a business admin can generate the conversion access token, and it must be generated in the business that should receive the conversions. Ask your business admin if you do not have the permission.
- The token is shown only once. If you lose it, generate a new one and enter it in adstage again.
Entering the values in adstage
-
Paste the value into Pixel ID and click
Save. -
Paste the token into Conversion Access Token and click
Save. The token is encrypted on the server and is never shown again. To replace it, enter a new value and save again. -
Once both values are saved, the
Conversion APIswitch can be turned on, and the status badge changes toActive. If either value is missing, the switch stays off with the message "Enter the Pixel ID and Conversion Access Token first."
Test ID (optional) is the value from Event Testing in Events Manager. While it is set, events sent by adstage appear only in Event Testing, so use it for verification only and clear it before going live.
Events that are sent
adstage standard events are translated into the Reddit conversion events below. Events that are not listed are not sent.
| adstage event | Reddit conversion event |
|---|---|
purchase, in_app_purchase | Purchase |
sign_up | Sign Up |
add_to_cart | Add to Cart |
add_to_wishlist | Add to Wishlist |
search | Search |
view_item, product_details_view | View Content |
generate_lead | Lead |
Sending rules:
- Only conversions attributed to Reddit are sent — events that carry the Reddit click ID (
rdt_cid) or whose channel isreddit.ads. Conversions from other channels are not sent. - Events older than 7 days are not sent, because Reddit does not accept them.
- Each event is sent individually as soon as it is collected. Configuration changes take effect within a minute.
- Along with the click ID, adstage sends the IP address, user agent, hashed email and phone number (when present in the event parameters), hashed device ID, and, for app events, the hashed advertising ID. Purchase events also carry the value and currency (defaulting to
KRW), order ID, and quantity. - The deduplication key uses the event's
event_idor order ID. If the Reddit Pixel is also installed on your site, the pixel event must use the same value so that Reddit can deduplicate.
4. Creating Tracking Links
Reddit appends the click ID (rdt_cid) to the landing page URL when a user clicks an ad. If you use an adstage tracking link as the landing URL, adstage reads and stores that value and later ties conversions back to the Reddit ad click. adstage does not have a Reddit-specific link template yet, so the campaign name goes into the link itself.
-
In Deep Links > Create, select the
Custom Deep Linktab. -
Enter
redditas the channel. Reporting aggregates it under thereddit.adschannel. -
Enter the campaign name exactly as it appears in Reddit Ads Manager. The names must match for cost and conversions to be combined into a single row in reports.
-
Set the redirect options, save, and put the generated link in the landing URL of your Reddit ad.
Please note
- If you use your website address directly instead of a tracking link, adstage cannot recognize the visit as Reddit ad traffic.
utm_source=redditcannot be distinguished from organic post traffic, so it is not reported as thereddit.adschannel.- Cost is collected at the campaign level only. Filling in the ad group or creative fields splits conversions into finer rows while cost stays at the campaign level, so fill them in only when you want to compare conversions by creative.
- To measure web conversions, the adstage Web SDK must be installed on the landing page. See Installing the adstage Web SDK.
Existing links created with reddit as the channel keep working. New data is aggregated under the reddit.ads channel.
5. Collected Data
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Collection interval | Once right after connecting, then every 4 hours (1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21 KST) |
| Collection range | Last 30 days (D-30 to D-1, excluding the day of collection), refetched each time to pick up late-arriving numbers |
| Data level | Campaign level |
| Metrics | Spend, impressions, clicks. In reports these carry the (Channel) suffix, meaning values reported by the channel |
| Currency and timezone | The currency and timezone set on each ad account in Reddit Ads Manager. If they differ from your organization's base currency, a converted amount is stored as well |
| Channel name | reddit.ads |
App installs counted by Reddit are stored as Conversions (Channel). That number comes from postbacks sent by measurement partners (MMPs) listed by Reddit; adstage is not a listed MMP, so it is usually empty. Purchases and sign-ups counted by Reddit are stored for reference only.
6. Cautions
Please note the following.
- Numbers may differ between Reddit Ads and adstage. Reddit metrics settle up to 6 hours later and late conversions are backfilled the next day, and aggregation timing and timezone bases also differ.
- Turning off the
Reddit Ads Cost Integrationswitch stops conversion sending as well as cost collection. Leave it on even if you only use the Conversion API. - If the Reddit user who logged in loses access to the ad account or revokes it, cost collection stops. Log in again to reconnect.
- If the Test ID is not cleared, live conversions appear only in Event Testing and are not used for campaign optimization.
- Install attribution for app install campaigns is counted in Reddit Ads Manager only through MMPs listed by Reddit. App events sent by adstage are delivered as Conversions API app events.
7. Troubleshooting
If something goes wrong during setup, check the following.
Cost integration problems
- The login window does not open: allow pop-ups in your browser and try again
- The ad account list is empty: check that the Reddit account you signed in with has access to the ad account in your Reddit business. Accounts shared from another business are not listed
- The connection is reported as cancelled: you declined on the consent screen or closed the window. Click
Log in with Redditagain - The status is Failed: hover to see the cause; if it is an authorization problem, click
Log in with Redditand select the same account to reconnect
No data is being collected
- Check the switch: make sure the
Reddit Ads Cost Integrationswitch is on - Check whether ads are running: even with a Success status there is no data if no ads ran. Data for the current day (D-0) appears from the next day's collection
- Check the warning: if there is a ⚠️ warning next to the status, review permissions and campaign status on Reddit
Conversions do not appear in Reddit
- Check the Conversion API status: confirm the badge is
Activeand that both the Pixel ID and the Conversion Access Token are saved - Check the Test ID: if a value is still set, events appear only in Event Testing
- Check attribution: if the
reddit.adschannel shows zero conversions in adstage reports, there is nothing to send. Confirm the tracking link is used as the landing URL - Check the event: confirm it is one of the standard events above and that it is less than 7 days old
- Check the pixel: confirm the Pixel ID matches the pixel of the business that should receive the conversions
